With an increase in SMS-based phishing messages, it’s getting annoying, and to ensure you stay protected, here is a list of known malicious SMS messages to keep an eye out for.

Learning and detecting SMS-based phishing messages is important as they can appear legitimate. Falling victim to these scams could cost you your whole life savings. For example, a Sydney Woman loses her life savings to a text scam in early 2024. If you become a victim of these scams, your bank is unlikely to return those funds to you.

How do you stay protected?

If you are unsure about the message, DO NOT click on any links or call the number provided in the SMS message. If you need to contact the organisation you believe is contacting you, Google the company and get their contact details.
